Why songs has disappeared…

There’s a lot of buzz about Spotify removing all your favorite music, without any warning. They announced this problem at their blog last week, but many Spotify fans out there yet doesn’t seem to understand WHY?

Ok, there are two main aspects of this problem:

1. Spotify released a closed beta, about 3 years ago. Back then, they looked everywhere to fill their database with music. They gathered tracks and albums from their own collections, material that were both legal AND illegal. Now, they had to delete this material and replace it with only the material they have received from the labels. Hopefully, nearly everything will be uploaded again, but it will probably take a while.
2. There are some stupid country restrictions. Some albums are only available in the UK, and cannot be listened to by other countries. Spotify will have to wait until they receive the right version for each country!

Spotify will of course work on this issues as good and fast as possible. In fact, there are already about 2-300 000 more tracks on Spotify than before christmas!
